POSTED 12-28-01We want to get together with PSAC again soon, and I'm trying to make it happen.
Fort Lewis: 12-17-00
A day that will live in infamy. This was the Fort Lewis game with PSAC, and Team 7. Those were the only two teams I recognized. If anyone else was there, let me know. Sorry I forgot you if you were.
For now the short summary. I woke up very early to give plenty of time for travel. Had my tires slashed in Kelso. Caught the guy, took his knife away, and turned him over to the police there. Stranded without tires for hours. Arrived late to the game. I did OK, Darren did well, and Curtis needs a little work. We had a lot of fun, just wish that we could have had more time. Some things cannot be forseen.
Operation West link: June of 2000
After Action Report by Darren;
First mission- Our squad was assigned to a Detachment from Beaverton Airsoft Command, (Matt from Beaverton was new to leadership and was having some trouble getting started (He sure played hard though). FDA Team Coordinater Dan Nelson then made a battle field combat assessment. The plan was as follows: The FDA team (and attached BASC team member) would move on hill 357 facing the enemy forces front,(Dan is a Ex-Marine, you can tell by our frontal assault plan.) BASC would move to the left flank and attack. We were about to begin are push up the front (when the attached BASC "SFC" tells me she can't run!! she has a bad knee. note: we left her trailing behind us when we took off running.) Craig took point and I (Darren) moved to the slack position with Dan following me, within 30 to 40 yards into tree line, 60 yards from our start point Craig spotted movement to our front, about 2/3rds of the way up Hill 357 "our objective". We moved to a position at the bottom of the HILL.("personal note: This was our first game as an AIRSOFT TEAM!!" my ASS was wanting to churn buttermilk at this time!!) Dan then came up with an on the spot assault plan, it was as follows, "Move to the BIG TREE and attack up the hill." (The Marine Corps Basic Battle Plan thing.) It was a simple plan and Craig and I looked at each other and nodded. Nelson and I then started pouring off cover fire so Craig could move to the big tree. We took some heavy fire as Craig dove for the BIG TREE and took cover, Dan and Craig then provided cover fire for my movement to a smaller tree up and to the right. Craig was firing up at the lower bunker and scored the first kill (tagged with a BB) of the day, a shot to the chin of the player in the bunker. I then moved up the hill slowly, was not taking any fire from the upper or lower of two bunkers. The enemy players were occupied with the flanking force of BASC. I then took off running up the hill and jumped the upper bunker scoring 3 or 4 kills at the same time Craig took out the second enemy player in the lower bunker. A fire fight ensued on the left flank, Dan and Craig where shooting at few more enemy players, I then moved into a position above and flanking the two enemy and began to fire, Between Dan and Craig they eliminated the remaining few enemy players. GAME OVER...We took about a 15 to 20 minute break...... (Note from Dan: I thought I got shot in the ass that game, maybe it was a later one)
Part 2- Hold the HILL...
We then took our turn in the bunker on Hill 357. Dan came to Craig's and my position in the bunker and told us his plan. "Hold the bunker at all cost."..(that Marine Corps battle plan thing again.) The game started and Craig and I waited for the enemy team to approach. We spotted movement to our right and moved into position to assault them, I noticed it was Tyke and his brother. They made it to wihin 30 or so yards from Craig and I. We then started a fire fight with them. We managed to get them caught in a crossfire an eliminated them both a short time later. Craig then moved back to the bunker to help out the other players, and I stayed to the right just in case we had any more enemy players approach. Dan, Craig and several BASC players eliminated the rest of Mossback players a short time later. We took a short break...
Part 3- Find the Box of Plutonium...
We moved to our starting position at the far end of the field. We started the search for the box with plutonium or something of that nature. Dan again came up with a plan of attack, "Take and hold the Hill so we can move to the rally point after we locate the box, then we'll start looking for the box from there". "Note": We now took on a reserve player (Someones Dad from BASC) named Rick (He should be hooked on the game now). Game on was called and we took off running towards the Hill, When we reached it we spread out. As squad leader I then placed Rick and the other BASC member(note: she was using a spring pistol.) in the upper bunkers and moved one BASC player to a lower position to give us an advanced warning (or to just sacrifice his ass and not mine...) Craig then moved out to cover our right flank I believe. I moved down to the bottom of the hill (feeling guilty about hanging the BASC guy out to dry.) Dan was taking a few players to our left flank and was going to ambush the attacking force and look for the box. I spotted movement to our front and heard Dan and some players from BASC open up on the enemy force. (I was now gaining the ass pucker factor looking for enemy movement!!!) I moved to a thick patch of grass near a big tree when I spotted 2 enemy players trying to flank Dan. They stopped about 25 yards from me to my front. I watched for a moment to see what they where goning to do. At this time Craig called and said he had movement to his front. I saw a chance to score on the enemy. When Dan would shoot at the enemy to my front they would seek cover behind the trees that were in front of them, I called Dan on the radio and told him shoot as much as he could. When he opened up I shot a short burst at the enemy player closest to me and tagged him (note: we had a 1 re-incarnation rule for this game.) The tagged player then ran from the field. Again, I called and asked Dan to open up on the remaining player about 30 yards to my front. He complied, and I cut loose with another short burst eliminating the second enemy player. He then ran off the field to re-incarnate. I stayed where I was to see if any more enemy players would show up. A few minutes later the same enemy player that I tagged a few minutes before returned to the same position in front of me, I called Dan once again and told him of this ("Dedicated Enemy ") player returning to the spot in front of me, I ask for more heavy fire from Dan and I let loose with a short burst again and he was again eliminated. (note: He then noticed me laying in the grass near him after I shot him again.) I believe Craig took out an enemy player or 2 on our right flank and began to move towards my position, Dan began looking for the "BOX". While Craig and I joined up and moved back to the bunkers on the hill. Dan called awhile later and said he was lost and moving back to the hill, At this point there was some confusion of where the box was located at. Time out was called so that a general area for search was defined. The game was then restarted and the area for search was moved to the open area with ferns just down the hill from the bunkers. We continued to search when an enemy sniper moved in. We moved in and surrounded him and asked if he wanted to surrender? He chose not to. I was tired of him taking pot shots at us. So I called on the radio to to have everybody move on him at once and take his ass OUT. I noticed a pair of hands come up from the bushes in front of me, He decided to surrender. After he had the booming surround sound effect of all the radio's my teammates had that were surrounding him. After a long search for the box that was not found the game was called. (The guy from Mossback that hid the box had a hard time finding it. But he did after awhile.) (Note from Dan: I thought they never did find it. It was well hidden:))
Part 4 - Protect the President Game...
Tyke, one other player from Team Mossback, and Matt from BASC were to be a sniper team that had to kill the President that we were to protect. Craig took point as usual for him and I moved to the Slack position to cover him. We moved out down the road and Craig went into the hunting predator mode, we moved aways down the road searching every bush rock and tree on the way when down the road an enemy player started shooting at us we returned fire for a while the started to pursue (slowly and cautiously) when he fled. We reached a bend in the road when Craig took fire and I believe he was eliminated, I then tried to cross the road and move for cover when I was eliminated by Tyke (He scared the shit out of me!!!) who was hiding in the bushes in front of me. But we still won the game after the rest of the team reached the second corner (LZ) with the President. We took another break....... (Note from Dan: I was back with the prez. I kept shooting Darren in the back with my spring Glock. I thought it was very funny. It was cool when Tyke started whcking our guys. He was way hidden. He could've killed us all if he wanted.
Part 5- Take Hill 357 Again! In the Dark...
Team FDA was to attack the Hill with attached members from team BASC, Mossback with Rick (the Dad) set out to hold the Hill. (Conditions- There was a full moon out, but under the trees it was pitch black.) "personal note": I loaned Rick my M4A1 with tracer unit attached to it. I watched from a distance with Dan's night vision (ANPVS7B). As the game started, Team FDA moved up the hill with Mossback listening to the foot steps and cracking of fallen branches being stepped on, as I was looking through the night vision goggles to see Craig coming up the right flank. Dan approaching to the front with BASC spread out in front of Mossback. Within a few minutes Dan turned on a very bright light attached to his weapon (SureFire Tactical Light) "personal note": Roger believed this to be an automobile head light at one time. Dan also had a tracer unit attached to his weapon. He fired off a burst that looked so cool and scared a few of the Mossback players located in the upper bunker. (Quote from Mossback Players: HOLY SHIT DID YOU SEE THAT-THAT WAS COOL!!!!!) it was then that Rick cut loose with a burst from my M4 at Craig, The sight of tracer rounds bouncing all over the place was like seeing a bunch of pissed off fire flies buzzing around. The fight continued on and Mossback was taking a beating from FDA so I lent a hand to them, I found Tyke peering over the top of the upper bunker and told him to look through the night vision goggles. He spotted Dan at a tree about 30 yards below and cut loose with a burst at him, still the elusive Dan was not hit. Rick slipped out of the bunker and moved down the left flank and to find his own son sneeking up the hill and fired a short burst and nailed him as I spied through the night vision goggles. Then a long fire fight ensued and Dan and Craig and the attacking team were eliminated. GAME OVER.
personal note: I feel bad about collaborating with the enemy but it was fun to use the NVS to spot for Mossback. (Sorry Dan and Craig.)
Part 6- Predator Game.
Dan Nelson volunteered to be the first PREDATOR ("personal note": my first thought of that idea: "OH SHIT THIS IS GONNA HURT!") and set out to the field to start his hunt. The rest of us were standing around talking when someone asked if Dan was any good at this? My response was "DOES A BEAR SHIT IN THE FOREST!" and left it at that. We started on our way to take our beating from Dan. ("personal note": I decided to let a few people go ahead of me, I was not going to be the first person shot by Dan, by God. I'd let someone else take some punishent from him first.) We approached the upper bunker with flashlights on and all the sudden a burst from an automatic weapon broke the tension that had created an ASS pucker factor of 10 for me. Someone yelled that he was in the bunkers so we fired up the bunkers to only find that he was not there, go figure! We heard some crashing noise going down the hill to where an open field with alot of ferns. We moved very cautiously down the hill and stopped about half way and began looking for him when I spotted a reflection from something in a small stand of trees. ("personal note": my first thought at that moment" OH SHIT!") I yelled "THERE HE IS!" when Craig and I fired a long burst at the same time at the reflection hidden in the trees. Dan let out with an Ouch!! I'm hit!! I'm Hit!!! which ended the hunt for Dan thank God.
We took a few minutes to gather ourselves. Then Matt from BASC volunteered to be the next Predator. He took off and hid while we sat and BS'd for a few minutes and then took after the new Preditor. A few minutes later Dan said "hey, watch this." Then he yelled, "THERE HE IS!" Matt figured he was compromised and jumped up shooting. EVERYONE shot him at once. It was hilarious. We heard alot of whining from the guy while he was being teased by his own guys about falling for it. Tyke and another Mossback player took over as Dual Predators, they moved out to start their hunt. We followed after them a few minutes later after stalking them for a few minutes we stopped at the edge of an open field. I told Craig that the hair on the back of my neck was standing up and that one of the Predators was close. A few minutes later we found one right next to us in the bushes. It was Tyke. He scared the holy living shit out of me AGAIN!!! The group opened up on the the bushes and eliminated Tyke. (Note from Dan: He shot me in the tip of the nose blindly. Got his own brother too. Best shot I've ever seen.) We started to hunt the other Predator and moved back down the trail when he opened up on us and took off down the trail and stopped behind a tree. We proceeded to fire him up. He was hit and the game was over... We headed back for a break...
Part 7- FDA vs Mossback...
FDA offered to take on Mossback in a 3 on 6 game. They agreed (more to follow...
